"They played like they were in front of 50, 000 people, even though they weren't," says Hyams, a Los Angeles record producer who persuaded Perry Farrell to add a children's stage to Lollapalooza three years ago.  "People really love them, more so than other acts we've had in the past...The Hipwaders have as much value as Pearl Jam.  They are a tight, focused group of musicians."

Tor Hyams, Lollapalooza co-promoter (SF Chronicle 9/2/07)

"The Hipwaders are great, the songs are fun and very interactive.  Adding them to our Rock & Blues Festival was the right thing to do!

Crowds Turn Out for Relaxing, Family-Oriented Fun

Oakland Tribune Sept 18, 2006  by Alejandro Alfonso

DUBLIN -- The Hipwaders set the tone for the day on the main stage, singing original songs about ABC (already been chewed) gum, dancing like silly robots and performing their own renditions of the Scooby-Doo cartoon theme.

Parents and children danced to the pop-rock sounds in hula hoops, while some kids joined the band on stage with plastic inflatable guitars. Meanwhile, a machine at the front of the stage sprayed the crowd with hundreds of tiny bubbles.

Fun for parents and kids of all ages is the chord the band seeks to strike, and it was the perfect pitch for the sixth annual Day on the Glen Festival on Sunday at Emerald Glen Park.

"The Hipwaders are a colorful, dynamic group that really get the whole crowd going. Even Dads, who are usually looking at their watches at family shows, are caught up in the songs and antics of this band. The kids in the audience boogie the whole time." --- Jim Ocean, promoter
